Basketball Recap: Parke Heritage Piles Up the Points Against Southmont

Parke Heritage won the last time they faced Southmont and things went their way on Saturday too. The Parke Heritage Wolves claimed a resounding 85-58 win over the Southmont Mounties. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Parke Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Treigh Schelsky led the charge by dropping a double-double with 19 points and ten assists. Thanks to that strong game, Schelsky now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Crum, who made all 9 shots he took racking up 22 points and five boards.

Schelsky wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Parke Heritage was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They racked up 11 more assists than Southmont's also-impressive total of 11.

Southmont lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Vince Reimondo, who went 6 of 12 en route to 20 points and three steals. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aaron Mcmasters, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Parke Heritage's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points over those games. As for Southmont, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Parke Heritage will be playing in front of their home fans against Fountain Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Southmont, they are taking a road trip to face off against South Vermillion at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southmont knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully South Vermillion likes a good challenge.
