There's no place like home for the Calhoun Sandcrabs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road two Fridays ago. They came out on top against La Vernia by a score of 21-14 (the very same score they lost by in their previous game). This was payback for Calhoun, who were dealt a 35-14 loss the last time these two teams they met.
Calhoun's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darrik Salinas, who rushed for 133 yards while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Holton Hadley and his 80 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Calhoun's win.
Calhoun's victory bumped their record up to 3-3. La Vernia's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calhoun and Pleasanton will square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on October 13th. Meanwhile, La Vernia will be taking on Floresville at that same time.
