The Mission Valley Vikings were the 47-42 winner over the Council Grove Braves when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The New Year welcomed Mission Valley with a 59-28 whooping from Council Grove on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mission Valley has scored all season.
Brycen Palmquist continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Council Grove, scoring 19 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Palmquist has scored at least 25% of Council Grove's points. Kolby Rose was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Mission Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Council Grove, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Mission Valley will head out on the road to face off against West Franklin on Friday. West Franklin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mission Valley in Kansas (West Franklin is ranked 62nd, while Mission Valley is ranked 211th). As for Council Grove, they will be playing at home against Osage City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Osage City is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
