Brookstone had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Shaw Raiders get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on seven straight dating back to last season.
Brookstone got a massive performance out of Mitcham Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Kelly a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Lowery, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Brookstone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shaw only posted an OBP of .435.
This is the second loss in a row for Shaw and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Looking ahead, Brookstone will head out on the road to challenge Lakeside School at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shaw, they will be playing at home against St. Anne-Pacelli at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
