Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa Academy Comes Up Short

Santa Rosa Academy lost against Desert Christian Academy back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Santa Rosa Academy Rangers took a blow against the Desert Christian Academy Conquerors, falling 46-5. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1276th, while the Conquerors are ranked 491st).

Despite the loss, Santa Rosa Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madison Flores posted two points along with 13 rebounds, eight blocks, and three steals. The dominant performance gave Flores a new career-high in blocks.

It was another big night for Hannah Shaver, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points and eight steals for Desert Christian Academy. Shaver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Maddie Reedman was another key player, putting up six points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Santa Rosa Academy is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12. As for Desert Christian Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8.

Santa Rosa Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-8 defeat against Temecula Prep on the 13th. As for Desert Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-28 victory against Nuview Bridge on the 14th.
