Cornerstone Christian had lost 14 straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 2-15 to make it 15. They came up short against the Athenian Owls, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in March.
Cornerstone Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ace Heyer, who went 2-for-1 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. David Bryson was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
As for Athenian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-7. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Athenian's side, Jackson Jern made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Jern was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Simon Spiegelman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Molitor, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Cornerstone Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Athenian, they will face off against Ygnacio Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
