Baseball Recap: Maxwell Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

Maxwell had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Biggs on Friday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Vincent Orozco made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other pitching news, Wyatt Roach looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Brody Jones was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Landon Barrett was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Maxwell is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Biggs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.

Coincidentally, Maxwell and Biggs will both be playing Durham the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will head out to face the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
