The Panther Valley Panthers suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2023 on Thursday. Their rough 59-37 defeat to North Schuylkill might stick with them for a while. Panther Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddison Maynard, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Natalie Vermillion was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Panther Valley's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for North Schuylkill, their victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Panther Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Salisbury Township at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Salisbury Township will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 558th, while Panther Valley is ranked 238th). As for North Schuylkill, they will head out on the road to challenge Jim Thorpe at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
