The Odyssey Institute Minotaur will look to defend their home court on Friday against the River Valley Dust Devils at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Tuesday, Odyssey Institute suffered a rough 49-23 defeat at the hands of the Guardians. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Odyssey Institute in their matchups with the Guardians: they've now lost three in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Shelby Hunt, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted three or more in the last six games she's played.
Meanwhile, River Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Parker 69-16. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Broncs are ranked 97th).
Odyssey Institute's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14. As for River Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.
Everything came up roses for Odyssey Institute against the Dust Devils in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 38-5 win. With Odyssey Institute ahead 25-2 at the half, the game was all but over already.
