Evelyn Denison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Hayden McCollum was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Taylor Krahl, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Winfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Howell North on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-3.
Winfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was D.J. Lang, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Olivia Van Cleve was another, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
