This season hasn't been kind to The Rains Wildcats, who are still winless after their eighth game. They had to suffer through a rough 62-28 loss at the hands of Pottsboro. Rains has struggled against Pottsboro recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Major Mcbride continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pottsboro, rushing for 125 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Mcbride is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played. Cameron Saunders did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Pottsboro's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Cayson Watson.
Rains' defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 Winnsboro and 6-2 Commerce (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63.4% over those games). As for Pottsboro, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Rains will be playing at home against Mineola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pottsboro, they will head out on the road to face off against Commerce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
