The Sotomayor Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Collins Family Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sotomayor is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Sotomayor was the victim of a rough 47-22 loss at the hands of Maywood CES. While losing is never fun, Sotomayor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1036th, while Maywood CES is ranked 510th).
Despite the defeat, Sotomayor got a solid performance out of Angie Mendoza, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Vega, who scored three points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Collins Family stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Los Angeles Leadership Academy on the road to the tune of 42-7. The win was familiar territory for Collins Family who now have three in a row.
Sotomayor has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Collins Family, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
