The Quincy Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Burney 63-27 at home. Quincy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Quincy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hana Hostetter led the charge by scoring 15 points. Tatum Hughes was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the loss, Burney saw an underclassman step up: Natalia Maldonado scored seven points along with four steals. Maldonado is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jocelyn Metzger, who scored four points along with two steals.
The victory (which was Quincy's third in a row) raised their record to 17-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Burney, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Quincy will head out on the road to take on Chester at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burney, they will be playing at home against Redding Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
