Woodside had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Hillsdale Fighting Knights 16-1. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Carter Ball made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ball was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Colby Fernandez and Hunter Taylor dominated on the mound. Fernandez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Taylor got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Woodside is undefeated when Taylor posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Anderson Comfort was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Charles Dalrymple was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI.
Woodside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.
Woodside's record is now 6-2. As for Hillsdale, they moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Woodside will look to defend their home field on the 24th against Aragon at 4:30 p.m. As for Hillsdale, they will square off against Menlo School at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Fighting Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
