The Woodbridge Warriors will square off against the Viewmont Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodbridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Woodbridge picked up another tournament win on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Foothill 3-2.
Vincent DeMarco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.
DeMarco wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Camacho, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Viewmont made sure to put some runs up on the board against Tustin on Monday. Viewmont was the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over Tustin. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Like Woodbridge, Viewmont also got a great game from a two-way player: Elias Culley. On the mound, Culley tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kade Marriott pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At bat, Culley scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Marriott scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Viewmont is 2-1 when Culley posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on James Peterson, who went 3-for-5 with six RBI, four runs, and two triples. Those triples marked the first that he hit this season. Beckham Smith was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
Viewmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tustin only posted an OBP of .344.
The victory made it two in a row for Viewmont and bumps their season record up to 4-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Woodbridge, their record is now 12-5.
