The Woodland Wolfpack will square off against the Stockbridge Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
If Woodland beats Stockbridge with 18 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Wolfpack put the hurt on Eagle's Landing with a sharp 18-6 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wolfpack, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Aliyah Allen and Peyton Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Allen went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Johnson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Johnson has posted since back in August. The team also got some help courtesy of Adyn Brittian, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Woodland lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Stockbridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against Hampton, falling 24-11.
Alexandria Williams made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Ciara Hall was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Woodland now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Stockbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-16.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Woodland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Stockbridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Woodland took their win against Stockbridge in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 22-8 score. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
