The Lafayette Lancers will head out to face off against the Westminster Christian Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lafayette sitting on three straight wins and Westminster Christian on five.
On Tuesday, Lafayette got the win against Northwest by a conclusive 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Westminster Christian faced off against Lutheran on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Wildcats are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Jaymison Lenk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Sophia Bell was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addi Drumm, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Westminster Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.2.
Lafayette's record is now 5-3. As for Westminster Christian, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Lafayette came out on top in a nail-biter against Westminster Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
