The Bucktail Bucks lost against the South Williamsport Mountaineers back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Bucktail fell 47-37 to South Williamsport. Bucktail has struggled against South Williamsport recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
South Williamsport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Abby Akers, who scored 22 points along with eight steals. The contest was Akers' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Maddie Pinkerton, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Bucktail's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for South Williamsport, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Bucktail will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Neumann Regional Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. South Williamsport will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Mount Carmel at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Mount Carmel is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
