There's no place like home for the Bedford Bisons, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They snuck past Chestnut Ridge with a 39-35 victory on Thursday. For Bedford, this counts as revenge for the 39-28 defeat Chestnut Ridge walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Bedford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rebekah Costal led the charge by scoring 14 points. Katie Mcdevitt was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ashlie Weaver, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Weaver hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Hillegass, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Bedford's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Chestnut Ridge, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Bedford will head out on the road to take on Forest Hills at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Forest Hills will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Bedford surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chestnut Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Richland at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Richland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
