The Shaler Area Titans stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Armstrong as Shaler Area made off with a 61-35 win. The victory was familiar territory for Shaler Area who now have five in a row.
Armstrong's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Szep, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Jack Valasek was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Armstrong struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Shaler Area pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Armstrong, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.
Shaler Area will head out on the road to square off against Fox Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fox Chapel knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Shaler Area likes a good challenge. As for Armstrong, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Plum at 7:30 p.m. Armstrong is facing Plum at the right time seeing as Plum is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
