The pass-catch combination of Hunter Lile and Jared Reagan of Booker (Texas) nearly set a state record in a 29-28 win over Texhoma (Okla.) and the duo is included in this week's National Football Stat Stars.
Lile and Reagan connected 20 times in the win for 252 yards and two touchdowns. The 20 receptions for Reagan is the third-most for a single game in Texas history, according to Texas High School Football History. The record is 22, set by Sammy Taylor of Dublin in 1980.
Lile completed 41 of 60 passes in the game. His 60 attempts ranks 15th all-time in Texas state history. Johnny Manziel set the record in 2010 while at Tivy (Kerrville) with 75. His 41 completions rank seventh all-time. Three players are tied with 48.
The
New Mexico duo of Isaiah Yazzie and Tyler Sorenson of Navajo Prep each set state records in their 48-44 loss to Escalante last week.
