It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the West Charlotte Lions ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 70-69 photo finish over Chambers. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Paige Bowman, who scored 33 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Latayshia Andrews was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Chambers lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brianna Redmond. Despite the final result, she scored 30 points. That's the first time this season that Redmond scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Simpson, who scored 13 points.
Chambers struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as West Charlotte pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.
West Charlotte's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Chambers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Charlotte will take on North Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Mecklenburg will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Chambers, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Mallard Creek at 6:00 p.m. Mallard Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Chambers likes a good challenge.
