Poway got a good showing from  Jonathan Musgrove, who   pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off   five  hits. Musgrove has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in four consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Jake Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss,   going 2-for-4 with one  home run and two  runs. The team also got some help courtesy of  Victor Encinas, who  went 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI.
As for Carlsbad,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 14-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch.
On Carlsbad's side,  Ian Fisher tossed a big game,   striking out eight batters over  five innings while giving up  three earned  (and one unearned) runs off   three  hits (and only one walk).
 At the plate,  Lucas Johnson was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in March.  Luke Schultz also deserves some recognition as  he  snagged his first  stolen base of the season.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carlsbad beat Poway by a score of  8-6 on Friday.
