The Chesapeake Cougars waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 44-43 victory over Crofton. For Chesapeake, this counts as revenge for the 29-28 loss Crofton walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Chesapeake got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kasey Slade out in front who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and five steals. Slade is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Arruda, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Chesapeake's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Crofton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Chesapeake will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Glenelg Country at 6:00 p.m. As for Crofton, they will head out on the road to square off against Broadneck at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Broadneck will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
