The Ganesha Giants lost against the Garey Vikings on January 12th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Ganesha was outmatched by Garey on the road and fell 76-20. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ganesha in their matchups with Garey: they've now lost six in a row.
Garey got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaliyah (AJ) Jones out in front who scored 23 points along with eight assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Armani Owens, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Ganesha's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Garey, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.
Ganesha will be playing at home against Bassett at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Bassett comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Garey, they will head out on the road to take on La Puente at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. La Puente will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1330th, while Garey is ranked 550th).
