Healdsburg and Santa Rosa are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Greyhounds will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Healdsburg's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Santa Rosa's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, Healdsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Vincent de Paul, taking the game 6-1. The Greyhounds haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Eric Nielsen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Healdsburg is 9-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Xander Harms, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hayden Mariani, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Santa Rosa and Montgomery meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Panthers came up short against the Vikings, falling 12-5. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Healdsburg's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Santa Rosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Healdsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Santa Rosa when the teams last played on April 2nd, winning 9-4. Do the Greyhounds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
