Basketball Recap: Lexington School for the Deaf Takes a Loss

Lexington School for the Deaf was the 46-28 winner over American School for the Deaf when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Lexington School for the Deaf Blue Jays fell 32-19 to the American School for the Deaf Tigers on Friday.

Despite the loss, Lexington School for the Deaf saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shawn Giles almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards. Giles is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

American School for the Deaf's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Basil Blackford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was John M, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Lexington School for the Deaf's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for American School for the Deaf, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Lexington School for the Deaf didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-24 loss against Marie Philip on the 7th. As for American School for the Deaf, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-16 win against New York School for the Deaf on the 7th.
