The Brighton Cardinals and the Riverside Panthers will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Brighton came up short against Arlington and fell 55-42. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brighton in their matchups with Arlington: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Brighton saw an underclassman step up: Jayla Jones scored 25 points. The game was Jones' third in a row with at least ten points. Mariah Maclin was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Riverside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on December 8th after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost to McKenzie on the road by a decisive 81-62 margin. While losing is never fun, Riverside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while McKenzie is ranked 88th).
Brighton has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Riverside, they have fallen quite a ways from their 24-5 record last season and are now at 0-3.
