Oakes is 0-3 against Kindred since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Oakes Tornadoes will head out on the road to face off against the Kindred Vikings at 1:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Oakes sitting on four straight victories and Kindred on nine.
Last Saturday, Oakes faced Carrington in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Oakes managed a 27-21 win over Carrington.
Oakes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blayson Dolney, who threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. Max Walock also helped out as he racked up 130 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Kindred can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 49-6 win over Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon at home. Given Kindred's advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota football rankings (they are ranked third, while Harvey/Fessenden-Bowdon is ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oakes' win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 points per game. As for Kindred, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Oakes suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Kindred when the teams last played back in September. Can Oakes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
