Friendship Collegiate Academy has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Banneker Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (Friendship Collegiate Academy is ranked 23rd, while Banneker is ranked 15th).
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last four games, Friendship Collegiate Academy finally came back down to earth last Thursday. They were dealt a 68-23 loss at the hands of Friendship Tech Prep Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Friendship Collegiate Academy has scored all season.
Meanwhile, even though Eastern scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, Banneker still came out on top. Banneker snuck past Eastern with a 66-61 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Banneker.
Banneker can attribute much of their success to Doran Clausell, who scored 20 points along with nine assists and seven rebounds, and Jeremiah Shelton, who scored 19 points along with nine assists and eight steals. That's the first time this season that Clausell posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Justin Cave, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Friendship Collegiate Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Banneker, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.
Everything came up roses for Friendship Collegiate Academy against Banneker in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 as the squad secured a 74-47 victory. With Friendship Collegiate Academy ahead 38-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
