The Tri-Central Trojans waltzed into Saturday's match with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 54-41 victory over Morristown. Given Tri-Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Morristown is ranked 414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri-Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Trenton Patz out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The matchup was Patz's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Landon Grant, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Colin Kieninger and Owen Rinzel certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Kieninger dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Rinzel scored six points. Kieninger scored a full 26.8% of Morristown's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Tri-Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Morristown, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Central will square off against Clinton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clinton Central is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Morristown and South Decatur will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully South Decatur focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
