The Polk County Wildcats lost to the Sweetwater Wildcats back in October of 2020, but The Polk County Wildcats didn't allow the Sweetwater Wildcats the same satisfaction on Thursday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Polk County made off with a 29-28 victory over Sweetwater.
Damien McWilliams was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 91 yards on only 12 carries, and also picked up 87 receiving yards.
Polk County's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Sweetwater, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Polk County will head out on the road to face off against York Institute at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. York Institute is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Sweetwater, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Brainerd at 7:30 p.m. Brainerd and Sweetwater are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
