The St. Joseph Academy Crusaders suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Francis Parker at home and fell 75-42. While losing is never fun, St. Joseph Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while Francis Parker is ranked 113th).
St. Joseph Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Luciana Aguilar, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Pamela Torres, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Francis Parker found their leader in underclassman Brieana Brown, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Brown hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 12 straight games. Gigi Ong was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and three steals.
St. Joseph Academy's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Francis Parker, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6.
St. Joseph Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Valhalla at 10:30 a.m. on January 13th. Valhalla will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Francis Parker, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Costa Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
