Maywood CES has won three straight games at home, while Torres has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Wolfpack will welcome the Toros at 3:00 p.m.
On Saturday, Maywood CES came up short against Beverly Hills and fell 10-6.
Meanwhile, Torres never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Maywood Academy 11-0. Considering the Toros have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Juan Barajas and Rey Barreras made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Barajas didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Barreras tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Barajas went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Barreras went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Barreras a new career-high.
In other batting news, Torres let Angel Tostado and Jouse Solis Rojas run wild. Tostado went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Solis Rojas went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Tostado is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Victor Damian Silva, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Torres was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Maywood CES now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Torres, their win bumped their record up to 10-1-1.
