On Friday, JAG beat Clay County 57-45. Given JAG's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 18th in Alabama, while Clay County is ranked 74th in Kentucky), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
JaMicah Adair was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of JAG's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladarrin Hooper, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
JAG's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Clay County, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. JAG's road trip will continue as they head out to face Enterprise at 4:00 p.m. on January 5th. Clay County and North Laurel will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Laurel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
