After flying high against the Foothill Knights last Tuesday, the Brea Olinda Wildcats came back down to earth. Brea Olinda took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Dorado. While losing is never fun, Brea Olinda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while El Dorado is ranked 82nd).
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maya Sanborn, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Sanborn scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anjali Adhvaryu, who scored ten points.
Brea Olinda has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for El Dorado, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brea Olinda won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Orange Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. Orange Lutheran has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 179 points over their last three matchups. El Dorado on the road again on Monday and play against St. Paul at 1:30 p.m. on January 15th.
