The St. Bernard's Crusaders just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Campolindo Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on January 16th. St. Bernard's is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
St. Bernard's stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 52-27 margin over Sonoma Academy. Given St. Bernard's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Sonoma Academy is ranked 508th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Bernard's relied on the efforts of Laila Florvilus, who scored ten points, and Madelyn Shanahan, who scored 13 points. Shanahan continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Sundberg, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Campolindo's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 40-18 defeat at the hands of Mt. Diablo. Having soared to a lofty 55 points in the game before, Campolindo couldn't push the score so high this time.
St. Bernard's is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Campolindo, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
