The Schley County Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Early County Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Schley County will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Schley County can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They beat Lincoln County by the very same score they won with last week: 49-23. Given Schley County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Lincoln County is ranked 219th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Schley County relied on the efforts of Jay Kanazawa, who threw for 335 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes, and Zayden Walker, who rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Westbrook was another key contributor, picking up 118 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Early County had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 43-34 victory over Emanuel County Institute on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Tycavion Stovall continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 314 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. Stovall is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Schley County's win bumped their season record to 12-0 while Lincoln County's defeat dropped theirs to 7-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Schley County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 170.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Early County struggles in that department as they've been even better at 263.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Schley County against Early County in their previous meeting back in September as the squad secured a 30-0 victory. Does Schley County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Early County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
