Baseball Game Preview: Weston Silver Eagles vs. Kickapoo Panthers

Weston is a perfect 10-0 against Kickapoo since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Silver Eagles will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Weston is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Monday just wasn't the day for Weston's offense. They lost 6-0 to Ithaca on Monday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kickapoo). They never let La Farge get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the game before.

Jace Nagel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kickapoo is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-9 otherwise. Nagel was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Landen Layer was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Gehrke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Kickapoo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Kickapoo's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11. As for Weston, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Weston beat Kickapoo 6-1 when the teams last played last Monday. Do the Silver Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
