Palmer extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Doherty Spartans, falling 13-6. The Terrors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Lydia Wilson and Camila Vazquez did some serious damage despite the final result: Wilson went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Vazquez went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Hall, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Doherty's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
On Doherty's side, Shea Trujillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Cayla Baker was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Schiltz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Palmer will head out to challenge Woodland Park at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.14 runs per game on average), something the Terrors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Doherty, they will host Smoky Hill at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Buffaloes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.63 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
