Two dominant signal callers in Deagan Rose and Jamie Spurgeon are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Clovis Cougars will face off against the Clovis East Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clovis is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Clovis is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Clovis North: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Broncos out of the water with a 45-7 final score. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Clovis' success was spearheaded by the efforts of James Curoso, who rushed for 191 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry, and Carlos Young, who picked up 107 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With that strong performance, Curoso is now averaging an impressive 100.6 rushing yards per game. Clovis also got help from Israel Briggs, who showed off his sure hands for 83 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clovis was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Clovis didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Young. Another thorn in Clovis North's side was Lolomanaia Clark, who picked up 1.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Clovis East played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 50-20 loss at the hands of Central East. While losing is never fun, the Timberwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Bengals are ranked 17th).
Clovis will need to focus on slowing down Lindsey Graves, one of several Clovis East players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 69 yards on only nine carries, and also picked up 49 receiving yards.
Clovis' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Clovis East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.
Clovis took a serious blow against Clovis East in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 47-13. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cougars were down 40-7.
