Jefferson-Morgan is 0-4 against McGuffey since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Jefferson-Morgan Rockets' road trip will continue as they head out to face the McGuffey Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Jefferson-Morgan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 657th, while McGuffey is ranked 176th).
On Thursday, Jefferson-Morgan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-45 to Avella.
Meanwhile, McGuffey entered their tilt with Charleroi with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. McGuffey secured a 65-60 W over Charleroi on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Alexis Ewig was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Mallah, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Jefferson-Morgan's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for McGuffey, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
Jefferson-Morgan took a serious blow against McGuffey when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 68-23. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Jefferson-Morgan was down 38-16.
