Smithfield gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They blew past the Cranston West Falcons 15-2. This was payback for the Sentinels, who suffered a 7-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Tucker Byrnes was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Byrnes was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
