Softball Game Preview: St. Edmond Gaels vs. Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS

St. Edmond has gone a perfect 7-0 against Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Gaels will square off against Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS at 7:30 p.m. Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Edmond, who comes in off a win.

St. Edmond can't be too worried about heading out to take on Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS: they just beat Algona at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Gaels were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Bulldogs on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Gaels, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS came up short against Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Tuesday, falling 12-3. That's two games in a row now that Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS has lost by exactly nine runs.

St. Edmond pushed their record up to 20-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS, their loss dropped their record down to 1-17.

Everything went St. Edmond's way against Clarion-Goldfield/DOWS in their previous meeting back in June, as St. Edmond made off with a 19-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gaels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
