The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Capistrano Valley in their matchups with El Toro: they've now lost eight in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead El Toro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Cubacub, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Mariana Mina was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five steals.
Capistrano Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for El Toro, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.
Capistrano Valley will head out on the road to square off against Dana Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Dana Hills' favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Capistrano Valley has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. El Toro will take on Mission Viejo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mission Viejo will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 976th, while El Toro is ranked 289th).
