San Marcos is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will head out to square off against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. San Marcos' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so La Costa Canyon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
San Marcos' tournament run continued when they took on Union on Thursday. The Knights put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 8-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Evan Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hall was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Andrew Hall and Tyson Connelly dominated on the mound. Hall pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits, while Connelly pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Hall a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Max Farrell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played. Maddox Ponsford was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, La Costa Canyon unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Point Loma.
San Marcos' record now sits at 8-2-1. As for La Costa Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
San Marcos was able to grind out a solid victory over La Costa Canyon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mavericks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
