The Elkhorn North Wolves are taking a road trip to square off against the Skutt Catholic SkyHawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Elkhorn North comes in on six and Skutt Catholic on five.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Elkhorn North and Elkhorn, and Elkhorn North kept the tradition alive. The Wolves blew past the Antlers 51-7 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wolves' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Antlers are ranked 70th).

Elkhorn North's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Beachy, who threw for 120 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Alex Uchtman was in the mix too, providing the Wolves with two scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Elkhorn North proved: they limited Elkhorn to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Connor McCarthy for the heroic effort on defense: he. Elkhorn North hasn't allowed more than 4.5 yards per carry in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Skutt Catholic's strategy against Pius X on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the SkyHawks blew the Thunderbolts out of the water with a 49-7 final score. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the SkyHawks this season.
Skutt Catholic's win came from a few key players Elkhorn North will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Conor Mogensen, who rushed for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 122 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 56 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Skutt Catholic's leading receiver Wyatt Liebentritt was Mogensen's top target yet again, picking up 87 receiving yards and two scores.
Elkhorn North's record is now 6-0. As for Skutt Catholic, their record now sits at 5-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Elkhorn North has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Skutt Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 170.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Elkhorn North was able to grind out a solid victory over Skutt Catholic in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 28-21. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
