The San Diego Cavers are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Morse Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. San Diego will be strutting in after a victory while Morse will be coming in after a loss.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 22 to 14 on the offensive boards, a fact San Diego proved on Friday. They strolled past Point Loma with points to spare, taking the game 45-30.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Diego to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lara Saucedo, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Saucedo has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shanti Glenn, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Morse's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a tough 67-47 defeat at the hands of Cathedral Catholic. The game was a close 25-22 at the break, but unfortunately for Morse it sure didn't stay that way.
San Diego has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-12 record this season. As for Morse, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-7.
San Diego couldn't quite finish off Morse in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 and fell 44-41. Thankfully for San Diego, Lizeth Valencia (who scored 19 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
