Academy of Careers & Exploration found their leader in underclassman Sarah Powell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Powell has scored at least 25% of Academy of Careers & Exploration's points. Another player making a difference was DeIsis Ross, who scored nine points.
Academy of Careers & Exploration's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Baker, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2.
Academy of Careers & Exploration will be home for the holidays to greet Academy for Academic Excellence at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Academy for Academic Excellence's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so Academy of Careers & Exploration's offense will have their work cut out for Academy of Careers & Exploration. Baker will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trona at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
