The Burbank Titans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Grant on the road and fell 66-17. Burbank was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-9.
Despite the loss, Burbank still got an impressive performance from Aniyah Bufford, who scored eight points along with four steals. Bufford has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Burbank struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Leading Grant to victory were Asia Washington and Samaya Dillard. Washington dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Dillard dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Nerissa Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Burbank has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Grant, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.
Burbank will head out on the road to take on River City at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday. Burbank is coming into the contest with five straight losses on the road, meaning River City will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Grant, they will challenge Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
